1. The Cup of the Russian Imperial House of Romanoff (hereafter, the Imperial House Cup) is an award for achievements in various fields of sport.
2. The Imperial House Cup has been established by the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, on the threshold of the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the end of the Time of Troubles, the reestablishment of the Russian state, and the ascension of the House of Romanoff to the throne of Russia (1613-2013). Her Imperial Highness’s creation of this award is timed to coincide with the birthday of her ancestor, Emperor Peter I the Great, on May 30/June 12 (1672). It was during his reign that physical education became a regularized part of the state’s educational system, which was created as a result of Peter I’s education reforms.
3. The Imperial House Cup is a tall and narrow cup with a tapered body and flared at the top. Centered on the front of the cup appears the engraved personal monogram of the Head of the Russian Imperial House or of Her legal heir, one third the size of the height of the cup. The cup is supported by the raised wings of two double-headed eagles in the style of the reign of Emperor Alexander I the Blessed, each with three Imperial crowns (the center crown being larger than the other two upon the heads of each head of the double-headed eagles). In its right talon (the left side, facing) the eagle holds torches, crossed and afire; and in its left talon (the right side, facing) a laurel wreath. A ribbon beneath runs beneath the talons, connecting the torches and wreaths. On each eagle’s chest appears a three-cornered escutcheon with raised middle chief, depicting a Griffin dexter (the central element in the coat of arms of the House of Romanoff), under the Cap of Monomakh. The eagles rest upon a globe with depictions of all the continents, representing the universal brotherhood of all peoples of the Earth through sport. The globe in turn rests upon a helmet. Below the helmet, the base of the Cup is a dark stone cylinder, upon which is affixed a metal baseplate for inscriptions following a standard pattern (see below).
4. The Imperial House Cup is awarded to the winners of all varieties of sporting events on the basis of an official request from the organizers of these events to the Head of the Russian Imperial House. The terms and ceremony for the presentation of the award are agreed to on a case-by-case basis and in agreement with the Chancellery of the Russian Imperial House (H.I.H.’s Chancellery).
5. The Imperial House Cup is awarded both in the name of the Head of the Russian Imperial House and also, with her consent, in the name of Her legal Heir, H.I.H. Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia.
6. The inscription on the baseplate of the Imperial House Cup will appear in accordance with the following formats:

The escutcheon on each of the double-headed eagles, the torches and wreaths in their talons, the ribbon connecting the torches and wreaths, and the middle section of the helmet are all silver in color. The flames of the torches, the Griffin on the escutcheon, and the Cap of Monomakh are all gold in color.
