The Chancellery of the Head of the Russian IMPERIAL House announces the following:
On Sunday, 21 December 1969, on the threshold of Her birthday and majority, Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna, together with Her Parents, received Holy Communion at the Orthodox Church in Madrid.
On Tuesday, 23 December, the day of Her sixteenth birthday, with only Her immediate family present because of the impossibility of organizing a larger celebration due to winter weather, Grand Duchess Mariia Wladimirovna, in the presence of Her Parents and of Father Dimitrios Tsiamparlis, rector of the Orthodox Church in Madrid and Her IMPERIAL Highness’s Confessor, swore on the Holy Gospel an oath of loyalty to Her Father the Grand Duke Wladimir Kirillovich, Head of. the IMPERIAL House, with the pledge to observe the provisions of the Russian State Laws on succession to the Throne and on familial order in the Dynasty.
The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess wish to mark the event of Their daughter's majority on Her name-day, on the coming 4th of August, at Saint-Briac, and hope that all Russian organizations will be able to send their representatives. Individuals wishing to spend that day with Their Imperial Highnesses will, of course, be received with pleasure.
