On the 10th (23rd) day of December, 1953, in Madrid, was born to the HEAD OF THE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL HOUSE, His Imperial Highness Grand Duke Wladimir Kirillovich, and to His Most August Consort, Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna, a Daughter, given the name Maria in Holy Baptism.

The Mystery of Holy Baptism was performed in Madrid on 21 January (3 February), 1954, by the Spiritual Father of Their Imperial Highnesses, Hegumen Panteleimon.

The godparents were:

Godfather: His Imperial Highness Grand Duke Andrei Wladimirovich. In view of the fact that His Imperial Highness could not come to Madrid on account of his health, his place at the baptismal font was taken by proxy by His Royal Highness Prince Nicholas of Rumania.

Godmother: Her Majesty Tsaritsa Joanna of Bulgaria.
