GREETINGS
from the Head of the Imperial House of Russia
H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Maria of Russia
to the Organizers and Participants
of the 14th Olympiad of the History and Aviation and Aeronautics,
Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of the Great Russian Aircraft Designer, R. E. Alekseev
I wish to send my warmest greetings to the organizers and participants of the “International Olympiad of the History of Aviation and Aeronautics, Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the great Russian Aircraft Designer, R. E. Alekseev,” who made an enormous contribution to the strengthening of our nation’s self-defense capabilities.
Soviet aircraft designers received the baton from the founders of Russian military aviation, who created the first Russian air force during the reign of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearer Emperor Nicholas II, and who made impressive advances in aviation from the very beginning of human flight. Their work has been taken up today by a new generation of aircraft engineers. The Olympiad, which has been organized by the “Aircraft Builders’ Club,” helps to preserve the memory of those who have come before, and supports and celebrates the work going on now and into the future.
I wish all the presenters at the Olympiad the very best of luck and God’s blessing on all your good endeavors.
My son and heir, H.I.H. the Grand Duke George of Russia, also sends his warm greetings to you all.
The original is signed in Her Imperial Highness’ own hand:
MARIA
