It was with enormous sadness that I learned of the passing of His Eminence, the retired Archbishop Ambrose.

Archbishop Ambrose was dedicated from his youth to service to the Holy Church, was ordained a monk during the harshest years of atheistic persecution, and spent his entire life laboring zealously in the fields of Christ. For nearly 30 years he tended the flock of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Kineshma Eparchies, earning the love and respect of his fellow countrymen.

I and my son and heir, the Grand Duke George of Russia, express our deepest condolences to His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Vichuga, to the clergy and faithful of the Ivanovo Metropolia, and to all the spiritual children, disciples, and friends of this ever-memorable archpastor.

May our Lord grant eternal peace to the newly-reposed Archbishop Ambrose!
