2015-11-15. The Head of the House of Romanoff sends her greetings to the International Conference “Multinational Crimea in the Modern International Context”
FROM THE HEAD OF THE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL HOUSE
I send my warmest greetings to the organizers and participants of the International Conference “Multinational Crimea in the Modern International Context.”
The Crimean peninsula is a crossroads of civilizations. Over many centuries a unique system of international relations took shape there, a system that reconciled local realities and universal principles. The Crimean experience is valuable both for the reestablishment and strengthening of the links between the fraternal peoples that are, or once were, part of the Russian cultural world, and for the development of a dialogue between governments with different historical foundations.
The Russian Empire was built on the principle of “Unity in Diversity.” It is precisely that wealth of religious and cultural diversity that is the guarantor of the prosperity of Crimea, of Russia, and of all countries and peoples who cherish their ancient heritage and who respect the culture and traditions of others.
I wish you all every success in all your endeavors. I hope that the plans to transform the Crimean International Conference into an annual event will be realized, and that it will serve the cause of truth, peace, harmony, and mutual understanding.
My son and Heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, joins me in sending these warmest greetings and best wishes to you all.
May the Lord bless you!
H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia
