Statement from the Chancellery of the Head of the Russian Imperial House Concerning the Russian Imperial Union-Order
On March 27, 2015, the journal Gorod-812 published an interview on its webpage “812-online” with G. A. Fedorov, Vice-Chairman (and former Chairman) and member of the Supreme Council of the Russian Imperial Union-Order. In the interview, Mr. Fedorov expressed opinions on a range of historical and current issues that fundamentally contradict the position of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia (particularly regarding the unification of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad with the Moscow Patriarchate, the history of the Second World War, and the status of the independent states that have formed on the territories of the former Russian Empire and USSR). He also made a number of utterly specious claims during the interview (for example, asserting that the abdication of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearer Emperor Nicholas II was “falsified,” or that President Boris Yeltsyn had “visited” Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna in Paris, and so on).
Everyone has the right to the free expression of his own opinions. However, it is inexcusable for a monarchist and legitimist who has publicly declared his loyalty to the Russian Imperial House and to its legal Head to make statements that are so diametrically opposed to the position of the dynasty. What is most shocking is Mr. Fedorov’s attempt to lend credence to some of his most outlandish statements by attributing opinions to Her Imperial Highness The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia that she has never expressed.
As a result, the Chancellery of the Head of the Russian Imperial House is compelled to notify all those who may be concerned with this matter that, until such time as the Russian Imperial Union-Order ceases to conduct its affairs so arbitrarily and recklessly and without any effort to be consistent with the position of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, no actions, statements, or declarations from this organization or its members should be viewed as expressing the position of the Romanoff dynasty or the legitimist movement.
