On 13 July 2002, by order of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, A. N. Zakatov, the private secretary of the Imperial Family, and Major-General A. V. Kirilin, Chairman of the Council of Knights of the Imperial Military Order of St. Nicholas the Wonder-Worker, bestowed the decree and insignia of the Order, in the first class, upon the Head of the Main Directorate for Armored Vehicles in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: General-Colonel S. A. Maev, Deputy to the Supreme Commander of Ground Forces.
