The occasion was marked by a prayer service (moleben) of thanksgiving and for the health of Grand Duchess Maria of Russia; her heir, the Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia; his spouse, Princess Victoria Romanovna, and their son, Prince Alexander Georgievich in the church of the Ascension of the Lord at the Serpukhov Gates in Moscow.
The service was officiated by the church rector Archpriest Konstantin Tatarintsev, First Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies. Serving with Fr. Konstantin was Hieromonk Nikon (Levachev-Belavenets), the head of the Department for Historical and Memorial Activities of the Chancellery of Her Imperial Highness and the burser of the Zosima-Smolensk hermitage in the Alexandrov Eparchy; Fr. Roman Polulyakh, a retired cleric of the Ryazan Eparchy; Deacon Dmitry Sovyk of the church of the Ascension; and Deacon Aleksei Kulikov of the Sergiev Posad Eparchy.
After the conclusion of the service, Fr. Konstantin congratulated all those in attendance on the feast day, and asked that his warmest regards and best wishes be conveyed to Prince Alexander’s parents, Grand Duke George and Princess Victoria.
Attending the service were members of the Chancellery of the Head of the Imperial House of Russia, members of the organization “For Faith and Fatherland,” representatives of the Russian Nobility Association, members of the public, and parishioners of the church of the Ascension of the Lord.
