2024-10-07 MEMORY ETERNAL! Svetlana Valentinovna Pilkevich (1988-2024)

The Chancellery of the Head of the Imperial House of Russia is deeply saddened to announce the death on October 2, 2024, of Svetlana Valentinovna Pilkevich (7 October 1988 – 2 October 2024), the wife of Vladislav Valerievich Pilkevich, Advisor to the Chancellery for Relations with State Agencies and Religious and Society Organizations of the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol. Svetlana Valentinovna passed away in Moscow, after a short illness.

Vladislav Pilkevich in 2022 defended his Candidate’s dissertation “Kul’turnoe nasledie Kryma kak factor razvitiia regional’nogo turizma” [The Cultural Heritage of Crimea as a Factor in the Development of Regional Tourism] in the field of Cultural Studies (Academic Specialization 24.00.01 – “The Theory and History of Culture”).

 

On August 15/28, 2024, on the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, Svetlana gave birth to a son, Alexander.

 

During her last days, Svetlana took Holy Confession and received Holy Communion from Hieromonk Nikon (Levachev-Belavenets). On September 28, Vladislav Pilkevich and Fr. Nikon celebrated with Svetlana the one-month birthday of her son, Alexander.

 

On October 2, at 4:30 in the morning, Svetlana Valentinovna Pilkevich’s heart ceased to beat.

 

The funeral and commemoration services took place on October 5 in the Russian Center for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine in Moscow

 

The Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, send the following letter of condolences to Vladislav Valerievich:

 

Dear Vladislav Valerievich,

 

“The news of the death of your wife, Svetlana, has profoundly saddened me.

 

“I know the depth of the love you shared, and what a reliable support you were to each other. An unexpected and sudden illness has taken Svetlanas in the prime of life, and this difficult and bitter loss must now be borne in the firm hope in God’s mercy and in the acceptance of the great responsibility you have for your newborn son.

 

“My son and heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse, Princess Victoria Romanovna, join me in offering our deepest condolences.

 

“May the Lord grant peace in His Heavenly Kingdom to the newly-reposed handmaid of God, Svetlana. May He grant health to your newborn child, Alexander. And may He grant you, Svetlana’s parents, and all your family and friends the strength to bear this great sorrow.

The burial took place on October 7, 2024, in Simferopol—Svetlana Valentinovna’s birthday, when she would have turned 36 years old. On this day, the Holy Church commemorates the memory of Prince Vladislav of Serbia, the patron saint of her husband, Vladislav Valerievich Pilkevich.

 

H.I.H. The Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia and his spouse, Princess Victoria Romanovna, were among those who sent a wreath to the funeral.

 

A bouquet of flowers from those in Moscow who generously contributed to the costs of her care and treatment was placed in her grave.
