On 30 October 2020, the Day of Commemoration of the Victims of Political Repression, H.I.H. The Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia, the son and heir of the Head of the Imperial House of Russia, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, took part in events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of the Civil War in the south of Russia, the mass exodus of members of the anti-Bolshevik resistance, and the deaths of a significant number of the White forces who had remained in Russia and laid down their arms in the course of the Red Terror in Crimea.
Events commemorating this tragic date included memorial church services, an international academic conference, and other solemn gatherings. Among those participating in these events were: the wife of the Head of the Republic of Crimea, E.A. Aksenova; the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, A.N. Tereshchenko; the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea in the office of the President of the Russian Federation, M.Yu. Solomentsev; His Grace Bishop Nestor of Yalta; His Eminence Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia; the President of the International Slavic Academy of Sciences, Education, Arts and Culture (ISA) and Chairman of the International Slavic Council, S.N. Baburin; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Revival and Promotion of the Traditions of Charity and Philanthropy, the "Elisabeth-Sergius Educational Society," A.V. Gromova; the Director of the European Institute for Democracy and Cooperation, N.A. Narochnitskaya; the Deputy Head of the World Russian People's Council, K.V. Malofeev; the Advisor to the Chancellery of the Head of the Imperial House of Russia for Relations with State Agencies and Religious and Public Organizations in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, V.V. Pilkevich; a delegation of the Russian Nobility Association led by its president, O.V. Shcherbachev; the Chairman of the Central Council of the "Society of the Descendants of the Participants of the First World War," V.I. Alyavdin; members of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society; Prince Z.M. Chavchavadze; clergymen; scientists; historians; and a host of public figures.
