The Head of the Russian Imperial House. H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, has sent a letter congratulating Viacheslav Mikhailovich Lebedev, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, on his 80th birthday.

Congratulations on your 80th birthday!

I appreciate and highly value your many contributions to the growth and development of the Russian judicial system, and to the strengthening of the foundations of our country’s statehood and civil society.

I want to note especially your respect for the historical heritage and traditions of our great nation. I will forever cherish the memory of how deeply and attentively you considered the legal case regarding the rehabilitation of Holy Royal Passion-Bearer Emperor Nicholas II and members his family, which rendered justice for all our martyred relatives and their faithful servants.

With all my heart I wish you good health, strength and perseverance, and God’s help in serving the nation for many more years to come.

My son and heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse, Princess Victoria Romanovna, also send their warmest congratulations to you.
