Prince Nicholas Obolensky

The Russian Ball of Washington, DC

I wish to extend my heartfelt greetings to the organizers and participants of the Russian Ball in Washington, D.C.

Unfortunately, circumstances prevent me from attending the Ball in person, but I am with you all in spirit.

In the difficult conditions that prevail today in the world, “citizen diplomacy” has become all the more important, reviving the spirit of cooperation between peoples and harkening back to the bright pages of our common history.

The Russian Ball in Washington, D.C., which brings people together around charity work and the preservation of traditions, is an important event, which has as its goal not only solving social and cultural problems and supporting the Orthodox Church, but also helping to improve relations between two great nations, Russia and the United States of America.

I and my son and heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, send to you all our warmest Christmas greetings and best wishes for the New Year, and wish you all good health, joy, and happiness in 2018.

May God bless you all!

H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Maria of Russia
