On behalf of the episcopacy, clergy, and the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, I send to you my deepest thanks for your letter of condolences on the death of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, which took place on the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

We are enormously grateful for your prayers and kind words about the piety of our newly-departed Metropolitan Laurus and about his great service to the Church and to Russian history—his active part in the establishment of unity between the two parts of the Russian Orthodox Church.
