The Head of the Russian Imperial House Believes that the Emancipation of the Country from the Atheistic Regime to be the Main Accomplishment of the Presidency of Boris Yeltsyn

Interfax. The Head of the Russian Imperial House, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, offered a high appraisal of the activities of the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsyn, who died suddenly on Monday.

“I am saddened by the news of the death of Boris Yeltsyn. The Imperial House did not always share his ideas or his methods, but it always had a respectful relationship with him,” stated the grand duchess to “Interfax.”

She noted that she considered the main accomplishment of the presidency of B. Yeltsyn to be the “emancipation of the Russian state from the atheistic Communist ideology.”

The House of Romanov also highly praised the step taken by the first president of the Russian Federation “when he found in himself the courage to resign his office before the end of his term, making way for new figures that could lead Russia into a new stage of its development,” said Maria Vladimirovna.

On her own behalf and on behalf of the Russian Imperial House, she expressed her condolences to the family and friends of B. Yeltsyn.

“One hopes that all my countrymen, regardless of their political views or whether they agreed or disagreed with Boris Yeltsyn’s policies, will pray for the repose of his soul,” added Maria Vladimirovna.
