On 24 June 2002, the Imperial Military Order of St. Nicholas the Wonder-Worker was awarded to generals and officers of the Directorate of the Head of Communications of the Military Forces of the Russian Federation. The Order was awarded in the first class to Iu. M. Zalogin, Head of Communications and Deputy to the Chief of the General Staff, as well as to Colonel-General A. A. Ivanov. The Order was awarded in the second class to Lieutenant-Generals V. N. Abramov, A. A. Aseev, V. V. Beliaev, S. V. Ionov, N. P. Liaskalo, and Iu. E. Savin. The Order was awarded in the third class to Major-Generals A. A. Zatsarinnyi, Iu. M. Kabanov, A. N. Kazantsev, A. I. Kolesnikov, B. A Savin, A. V. Smelov, and K. E. Shkol’nikov; and to colonels A. I. Babin, S. P. Bagretsov, A. G. Balukin, Iu. V. Borodakii, A. Iu. Bokhanovich, A. Iu. Bystov, S. V. Eliseev, A. V. Kozhanov, S. F. Krasnitskii, Iu. E. Lebedev, D. E. Pil’shchikov, V. A. Rodin, A. G. Sutormin, and O. I. Faerberg. The ceremony was conducted at the “President Hotel.” By order of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, A. N. Zakatov, the private secretary of the Imperial House, read aloud the Imperial Decree bestowing these awards. The insignia of the Order were bestowed upon the new knights by Colonel-General Baluevskii, knight of the first class of the Order and Deputy to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation. Among those invited to the ceremony was S. V. Dumin, the Judge of Arms of the Russian Imperial House, and Prince A. S. Obolensky, the Marshal of the Russian Nobility Association.
