The Head of the House of Romanoff Sent Her Greetings to the Organizers and Participants in the Ceremony of the Reopening in Simferopol of the Museum of the 51-st Lithuanian Infantry Regiment of His Imperial Highness, Tsarevich Aleksei Nikolaevich

From the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria of Russia

To L. V. Kudriashova, the Director of the Simferopol Art Museum of the Republic of Crimea, and to Lieutenant Colonel S. V. Chennyk, the Editor-in-Chief of the military-historical journal Military Crimea [Military Krym], and chairman of the organization “Taurida Center of Military History.”

Dear Larina Vladimirovna and Sergei Viktorovich,

I send my heartfelt greetings to you and your co-workers at the reopening of the Museum of the 51-st Lithuanian Infantry Regiment of His Imperial Highness, Tsarevich Aleksei .Nikolaevich.

I greatly appreciate the activities of institutions and organizations that work so hard to preserve the legacy of our ancestors and to encourage and strengthen the good relations between the many peoples that once belonged to the single and great civilization and cultural expanse that once was the former Russian Empire.

It is remarkable how museums such as this one are now being given new life thanks to the efforts of people who work so enthusiastically and selflessly. Love, honor, and respect for our ancestors are inspiring and bear fruit in our society, preserving for our people the memory of the glorious past of the Imperial Army.

It is especially gratifying that the building of the officer’s club has been preserved in its original form, and that the Museum is located in the very same place it existed before the revolution. The Museum therefore serves as a symbol of continuity over time and of the unbroken connection between generations.

My son and Heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, joins me in sending these greetings and in expressing our sincere appreciation to you all. May the Lord bless you and may the intercessions of the Holy Passion-Bearer Tsarevich Aleksei be with you always.

The original is signed in Her Imperial Highness’s own hand:

Maria
