I send my heartfelt greetings to the participants of the 5th International Forum “Intellectual Property in the 21st Century.” I also send you all my warmest Paschal greetings.

I am very pleased that this Forum, which is meeting already for the fifth time, not only promotes an awareness of the inextricable link between modernization and tradition, but has become by now a kind of tradition itself in modern Russia.

In expanding and developing the range of its activities, the Forum has tirelessly worked over the years to strengthen the rule of law and the rebirth of the institutions of civil society in Russia.

In this year that is officially dedicated to the history of Russia—a year when we will be marking the 1,150th anniversary of the founding of the Russian state, and the 200th anniversary of our victory in the Patriotic War of 1812, as well as the 400th anniversary of the ending of the Time of Troubles—I sincerely hope that your efforts will help to focus the attention of our countrymen on the significance of the achievements and victories in our nation’s history and help identify important lessons from our past that will be useful for our own time and for the future.

I hope that these anniversaries, along with the official celebrations that will be sponsored by the state, will foster many new educational and philanthropic initiatives, which is the truest way to render all of the upcoming festivities and celebrations genuinely meaningful and significant for all.
