A Greeting from the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Wladimirovna, to the Third All-Russian Forum “Intellectual Property—the Twenty-First Century”

I send my heartfelt greetings to the organizers and participants of the Third All-Russian Forum “Intellectual Property—the 21st Century”!

The role of our country and its place in the world directly depend on the modernization of all areas of its governmental, public, economic, and scientific activities. However, this effort to introduce modernization can only be genuine, effective, and truly useful to the people if it is rooted in the timeless spiritual, cultural, and historical values of Russia. Only by harmoniously blending the traditional with the modern will allow us to overcome the sorrowful consequences of the political upheavals of the 20-th century and to reestablish the power and influence of our country.

All the intellectual resources of our country need to be directed toward new discoveries and wise decision-making. It is important to involve young researchers, teachers, and professionals who are equipped with the newest knowledge and skills, but who are also aware of and respect the experience of past centuries. Their ideas, their creative inventiveness, and their patriotism are the most important and most imperishable “property” that Russia possesses.

It is gratifying to know that the current initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation to discuss and resolve issues pertaining to intellectual property as applied to industry, culture, and education enjoys the support of government, academic, and public institutions at the highest levels.
