Today, on your birthday, I join your flock of countless millions and extend to you a daughter’s affection and gratitude for your selfless labors, for your love, wisdom, and staunch defense of the Orthodox Faith and of the foundations of the canonical structure of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

I value enormously the long and fatherly relationship you have with Our House. Thirty years ago, on 6 November 1991, you met my parents during their visit to St. Petersburg, and since then you have never denied us in your pastoral care. The meetings we have had over the years, your advice, and your words of support have all been very dear to me.

I pray that the Lord may give to you good health, spiritual and physical strength, and endurance in your Archpastoral ministry for many years to come.

My son and heir, Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse, Her Serene Highness Princess Victoria Romanovna, also send their warmest birthday congratulations.
