August 8, 2021, marks the 75th birthday of the adviser for public relations and communications in the Chancellery of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, David Georgievich Mepurishvili. David G. Mepurishvili was born on August 8, 1946 in Georgia into the family of a scientist, teacher, and veteran of the Second World War, George Yegorovich Mepurishvili. In 1968, he graduated from the Moscow Mining Institute. In December 1974, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Automobile Road Construction Institute (or MADI; today the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University), where he defended his candidate’s thesis. He then began a career in research, teaching, and business. He also served as the Director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FGUP/FSUE) “Information Center for Highways” (“Informavtodor”).

 

David G. Mepurishvili has long been active in charity work and publishing. Since 2006, he has been an adviser to the Chancellery, helping to organize official visits by members of the Imperial House to Russia and publishing accurate information about the historical and legal foundations and current status of the Russian Imperial House. Thanks to his efforts, a number of books about the House of Romanoff have been published, including:

D. G. Mepurishvili has also published an entire set of important articles on the history and activities of the Imperial House.

 

On July 17, 2009, on the day when the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers are commemorated in the Russian Orthodox Church, D. G. Mepurishvili was appointed as an advisor to the Chancellery of the Russian Imperial House for public relations and communications.

 

D. G. Mepurishvili has been awarded the Imperial Monogram of the Head of the Russian Imperial House in gold (first class). He is also a knight of the Imperial Order of St. Anne First Class and of the Imperial Military Order of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Second Class.
